2009 OPEN HOUSE

The 3rd Annual Open House at the lighthouse took place this year on July 11th, 2009. Round Island Lighthouse Preservation Society and Boy Scout Troop 323 of Freeland, Michigan welcomed over 150 people to the island. The scouts gave tours of the grounds, the oil house and privy, and of the 114 year old lighthouse. Guests explored the historical lighthouse and learned about the history of the light station and the surrounding area. This year marked the 100th Anniversary of the Hiawatha National Forest.

2008 OPEN HOUSE

The 2nd Annual Open House at the lighthouse took place on July 12th, 2008. Boy Scout Troop 323 of Freeland, Michigan and members of the United States Forest Service gave over eighty people tours of the lighthouse, the oil house and privy, as well as the rest of the grounds. The Open House was a success and even more people came over and toured the lighthouse at the 2008 Open House than the previous year during the 1st Annual Open House in August of 2007.
